Embross VelocityOne Kiosks deployed at Delta’s first biometric terminal in the United States

Delta has installed Embross’ VelocityOne (V1) Check In kiosks equipped with biometrics at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International
Airport (ATL).

Embross is please to be a part of Delta Air Line’s unveiling of the first biometric terminal in the United States at Maynard H. Jackson International Terminal (Terminal F) in Atlanta.

As part of the project, Embross has deployed 48 custom Delta VelocityOne (V1) Check In kiosks equipped with biometric camera systems, enabling passengers to retrieve their reservation through facial recognition. Working with NEC, international passengers’ faces are matched to the US CBP’s APIS database and reservations are retrieved without the need to manually search.

Customers flying direct to an international destination on Delta, Aeromexico, Air France, KLM or Virgin Atlantic Airways can now use facial recognition technology from curb to gate, including to:

  • Check in at Embross’ self service kiosks
  • Drop checked baggage at the counters
  • Serve as identification at the TSA checkpoint
  • Board a flight at any gate in Terminal F
  • And, go through CBP processing for international travelers arriving into the U.S.

Over the past three years, Embross has been developing kiosks, bag drops and e-gates with biometric capabilities to streamline passenger flow and improve efficiency.

Ever since the biometric touch points started rolling online in mid-October throughout ATL Terminal F, nearly all 25,000 customers who travel through each week are choosing this optional process, with less than 2 percent opting out. And, based on initial data, the facial recognition option is saving an average of two seconds for each customer at boarding, or nine minutes when boarding a wide body aircraft.

The Embross custom Delta V1 check in kiosk leverages technology from Embross’ notable biometric passport control and primary inspection kiosks deployed across North America with the iconic design from Embross’ popular flagship check-in kiosk.
