Embross to offer passenger processing and airport management solutions as it announces acquisition of Edge-Airport
June 21, 2019 | Toronto, Canada
Embross’ acquisition of Edge-Airport is the latest expansion for the fast-growing business as it makes the jump across the counter and towards a closer integration with its customers.
Embross, a world leader in passenger self-service solutions, has today announced the acquisition of Edge-Airport, a global IT provider of passenger processing and airport management solutions.
Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Bordeaux, France, Edge-Airport delivers a range of passenger and airport management solutions and services to over 50 airports globally. Known for its flexible and open architecture, Edge-Airport’s portfolio includes complete systems for passenger processing (CUPPS, L-DCS), tracking (BRS, PaxTracer) resource management and flight management (RMS, FIDS), operational messaging (Type-B messaging), aeronautical billing, and associated hardware and services.
The acquisition marks another chapter in Embross’ rapid growth as it continues to expand its footprint and solution portfolio following the successful acquisition of IBM’s Travel and Transportation kiosk business in 2015. The expanded portfolio will see Embross cross the divide between passenger and agent-facing solutions to offer airports a more flexible and cost-effective alternative to the traditional incumbents.
“We’ve been working across a number of opportunities that brought our two worlds together and, fueled by customer demand, it made natural sense to move towards a fully integrated model,” says Embross CEO, Achilles Tzelepis. “Edge’s product approach with a focus on deployment flexibility and its open approach to integration architecture was the perfect complement to our growing portfolio and something we’re excited to share with our global customer base.”
The timely integration of the respective portfolios will allow Embross’ customers to have access to a complete and streamlined offering that delivers passenger service from curb-to-gate partnered with Embross’ new biometric-based solution, TravelStream.
Eric Desmaret, CEO Edge-Airport says, “We are excited to be combining our technology with Embross’ cutting-edge passenger self-service solutions. We believe this would allow better efficiency and communication between client-facing and back-end solutions, moving the development of passenger travel forward.”
